Safety e-mail to City College Community

“Dear City College Student,

You have no doubt heard about the unfortunate loss of a student on the City College campus Tuesday evening. We would like to assure you that this was not a random attack.

We would like to remind you that the safety of our students is our highest priority. Rest assured that City College has a strong safety record as an urban campus in a major metropolitan area. The campus is patrolled by sworn police officers 24/7.

For important information about safety on campus please go to the SDCCD Police website and click on the Safe & Sound: A Guide to Safety & Security in the San Diego Community College District. The College Police Website also contains other information about campus safety that is updated routinely.

In addition to our Campus Police, we also have a Mental Health Counseling Center with counselors available to assist you during this difficult time. You can visit our Mental Health Center in A-221 or call 619-388-3539.

We all share in the sadness and tragedy of this senseless act of violence, but please be assured that our Campus Police, Mental Health Services, and City Administration are focused continuously on ensuring your safety and well-being.

Terrence J. Burgess, Ph.D.
President
San Diego City College”
