Socialist Club speaks

Lyrical Liberation is a weekly event that is held by the Socialist Club in Curran Plaza Wednesdays around noon.

This event is held to promote freedom of speech, political awareness, and to reach out to a new layer of students, said Socialist Club member Tony Perez.

“I think that the event is a great idea to spark consciousness of political issues around campus,” said City College student Yuli Martinez.

Lyrical Liberation not only brings light to the issues that are going on around the campus, but it also touch on issues in the San Diego community and beyond, such as the International Day Against Austerity, October 15, 2011.

Participants enjoy being able to speak their minds about issues that matter to them, one student even stated that it is part of our American fiber to speak out on political issues. On average, about 5 to 10 students participate in the event.

The Socialist Club invites more students to join in on the event by stepping up to the microphone.

The Socialist Club meets Thursday at 1 p.m. in the cafeteria.
