For the third straight season, the City College’s men’s basketball team has made it to postseason. The No. 10 seeded Knights will travel to face the No. 7 Antelope Valley College Marauders on Friday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m.

The Knights (22-7) are coming into this game running full speed with a nine-game winning streak and undefeated conference record (8-0). The Knights clinched their PCAC South champion title after their conference win over Mesa College on Feb. 12, 2016.

Antelope Valley College (23-6) finished second in the Western State South Conference. This is the 26th time out of 27 opportunities that the Marauders have made it to the postseason. They are rolling into Friday’s game with a three-game winning streak and a conference record of 9-5.

This is the sixth time the Knights have made the post-season since 2004, when since head coach Mitch Charlens took over the program

The Knights and Marauders have faced each other previously. In 2009, the most recent time they squared off in the post-season, the Knights sent the Marauders packing with a defeat in overtime, 80-78.

In 2012, the two teams faced each other in their second game of the regular season. The Marauders defeated the Knights, 91-83.

Friday’s game will determine which team will play the winner of No. 2 San Bernardino vs. No. 18 Citrus on Wednesday, March 2.
