The San Diego City College Knights recently qualified for the Southern California Regional Championship and will compete at Cerritos Regional Park on Nov. 2.

On the women’s team, Dafne Perez and Cesia Hernandez earned all-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference honors by finishing in sixth and 10th place at the championship meet on Oct. 20.

“We emphasize coming to practice and being consistent physically … and mentally in our approach,” wrote women’s coach Marco Anzures in an email. “We come on race day ready because we know that we have prepared well and are now ready to take advantage of the opportunity to compete.”

Three student-athletes on the men’s team earned all-conference honors as well.

Andres Zamudio, Edwin Mejia and Anthony Orduno all finished in the top 15 at the PCAC championship.

“These guys are very focused and goal-oriented and when they race, it shows,” said men’s coach Ian Cummings.
